====== Introduction ======

Hello and thank you for helping with the beta testing of our new Editplayer / Morph program!

Our old system was not very intuitive, and I wanted to make basically the 'editroom' equivalent for players.  Something that's truly feature rich and lets you do basically every possible setup option for your player.  I also wanted to combine editplayer / morph into one thing, and make it semi-standard in usage as 'editplayer' on other MUCKs.

For this beta test, you have been issued a test character.  It is highly recommended that you use the test character to test this program, because it is possible a bug could wreck your description set up on an existing player and that would be pretty sad.

This new editplayer is designed to be 100% compatible with the old morph system, so theoretically, once this is rolled out, it will 'just work' for everyone using the current system.

===== What We're Looking For =====

Obviously, we're looking for bugs.  But we're also looking for usability issues, and descriptive issues.  Some of the concepts covered are hard to explain in brief, such as a 'look trap'.  If you, reading this, don't know what a look trap is -- all the better!  Hopefully the editor will explain it to you as you use it.

Also the idea of having 'global settings' vs. individual descriptions may be confusing.  There may be 'workflows' that aren't great working through the system.  I'm interested in any and all of these sorts of problems along with bugs.

===== Reporting Bugs =====

When reporting bugs, please be as descriptive as possible.  If there was an error message from the MUCK, please provide the entire error message including all the debugging snarl / stacktrace stuff.  If you can tell me what series of steps you took to get to that point, or even an in-general idea, that helps a lot.  For instance, "I was editing a new description, and while putting in the description text itself, I typed .abort and it crashed.  Here's the debug message I got...."

===== What Doesn't Work =====

There's a few features that will not work for this beta because the program is limitedly installed.  The following items will not work as part of this beta:

  * Default Description on connect
  * Default Description on disconnect
  * Show current description on connect

I have tested these items separately and they should work when we 'go live', but they will not work while in beta.

===== How to Test =====

The program is a global called `newmorph`.  You can start by typing: `newmorph #help` to see the help for it.  You are encouraged to try every option, nook, and cranny of the program to test it out.  I'm also interested in these test cases:

  * Set up some descriptions using the old morph program.  Are you able to switch to those descriptions?  Are you able to edit them?  Any weirdnesses?
  * Any odd interactions between 'global' settings and 'override' settings
  * Does everything show up and look right when it is being edited?
  * Are there any interesting settings that I missed?
  * Are there any settings you can set that don't work right?
