Name: Sergeant McLoughlan (or so they insist)
Species: Smoky bat (Amorphochilus schnablii)
Occupation: Soldier (supposedly), aircraft mechanic (assuredly)
Sarge is a bit of a mystery. They insist that they were stationed at the airstrip on Hope Island as a vanguard against an old invading force, and that they're expecting to be reassigned off the island and back home to their family any day now. Even moreso now, since the islanders told them that the war they believe they fought in is over.
But their story doesn't check out. For starters, the ID card they show around has the face of a human woman on it. The other documents they've offered as proof of their position are extremely aged and brittle, and it's likely that they're older than any living being on the Island. For some reason, this tiny little bat has assumed the persona of Sergeant McLoughlan, but what that reason might be is anyone's guess.
Their personal history might be dubious, but their skill with airplane maintenance is legitimate. There's an entire working plane in the hangar of the airstrip thanks to them, and though it might be a rough ride with its seat cushions all stripped out, it otherwise looks like it just rolled off the line. Sarge has done their homework.
